Adult Ministries

"And be transformed by the renewing of your mind."  Romans 12:2a

The main goal of adult discipleship and education at Parkview is for adults to "be transformed by the renewing of their mind."  This goal begs the question, "How then is the mind renewed?"  The Bible teaches that:

-  God's Word is "alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword";
-  The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the Word of God abides forever";
-  "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God";
-  We are to "hide God's Word in our heart so we will not sin against Him";
-  We are to "meditate on His Word day and night"

...and what do verses like these tell us as believers?  That God's Word must be central in our lives if we want to be a people that will please and glorify Him!  If the Word of God is to be central in our lives, then it should also be central in our ministries.  It is the hope of the adult discipleship and education ministry, that every ministry activity and discipleship process would reflect the centrality and necessity of the Word of God.  Throughout the year, many dollars and hours will be spent on numerous different activities, programs and processes, but the goal of all we will do, will be to become a people who are consistently growing in knowledge, understanding and proper application of the "living and enduring Word of God!"

Begins January 25; Concludes May 10

Replant Next Steps: (Fellowship Hall) Pastor Steve is  leading a class to provide insight and training both for those who believe they are called to be a part of the replant, and those who will remain at PBC but want to be educated in the process. This class follows NAMB training procedures and is strongly encouraged for those who are planning to be a part of the replant. You will gain insight into what the transition will look like and what the timing will be. For those who routinely participate in Wednesday night prayer time, this should be a good fit for you as well.

True Worshipers:  (FLC 201-202) Pastor Curt will lead this study. The question is not “Are you a worshiper?” but rather “What kind of a worshiper are you?” In True Worshipers, Bob Kauflin, a seasoned pastor and musician, opens our eyes to the massive significance of being the type of worshiper God is seeking. Rooted in the gospel of grace and filled with practical application, this book aims to connect Sunday morning to the rest of your life—helping you fulfill your calling to be a true worshiper each and every day. This class will assist you in increasing your intimacy with Christ.

Love Junkies: (FLC 209) Minister Melinda Loftis will facilitate this Women’s Study. Christy Johnson, author of ‘Love Junkies’ has been inspiring women to  live soul healthy lives for many years. Join this study to gain insight into the pitfalls of romance and placing too much emphasis on the individual, rather than focusing on intimacy with Christ first and allowing Him to lead you into healthy romantic relationships. This study is open to all women.

The Insanity of Obedience:  (FLC 205-206) Pastor Brent will facilitate this study. Missionary Nik Ripken (name changed for security) recently penned the “Insanity of God” and it crossed from book to movie. Now with clips/testimonies from around the world, this study is an invitation to open your heart, your mind, and your eyes to the realities of walking with Jesus in difficult places. Engage with Scripture and see what it means to be a true follower of Jesus, not just someone who believes certain truths. Discover the answers to key missiological and theological questions about living sacrificially for the cause of Christ. If you hope to go on mission this year, this study is for you.
